Such A Great Insight

Oh, I needed to read this book. My brother is the definition of a narcissist, and I've never understood it or why he acted the was he does. Now, I have some insight, and it makes a little more sense to me. I never knew that it was more than him just being a "cocky jerk", but now I know how to handle the situations better. I would really recommend this book to anyone, you're eventually going to come across and narcissist and you'll need this info. Very well written, and easy to read.

Narcissism is on the rise

I learned a lot about this mental disorder from this book by the author, Jeffery Dawson. It’s one of the three dark personalities, or the dark triad, which includes Machiavellianism and Psychopathy. A narcissistic personality is excessively preoccupied with dominance, power, prestige and vanity. I always thought it was mainly the vanity part, being haught and arrogant, living in their own fantasy world, having unrealistic expectations, working under their own set of rules, but I find it’s a lot more than that. The author goes into how to recognize them, but also how to deal with one. I liked the chapter on the Common Myths About Narcissism and about the Supply Source. This person needs a person or group of people that satisfies their self-absorbed cravings, people to devour. He or she needs Approval, Admiration, VIP Treatment and so on. The Different Types of Narcissism was revealing, such as Overt, Covert, Amorous and Aggressive to name a few. There are even Group Narcissists where a bunch of them feed off each other. Well written and researched book on a subject I didn’t know much about.

What a bunch of gobbledygook! There is no logical order to presenting the so-called facts, the grammar is appalling and I think the author must be a non-native English speaker. He writes like someone talks who doesn't know which plural and singular nouns go with which versions of the verb. I quit after about fifteen pages, as it was too painful to read. Did someone do a bad translation to English from another language???? I think I would rather read an accurate discussion by a properly trained therapist. The reviews of this book are ridiculous too. The readers seem to think they and everyone else has this "disorder" and one reviewer thought the book would be good for someone who is interested in "becoming a physiologist." I think they meant psychologist. Really, people!!!!
