About the Author
Ann PeaPie was born and reared in the state of Mississippi. She is married, has three children, has six grandchildren, has six brothers, and four sisters. She received her BA degree in sociology and minor in social work from Mississippi State University in May 1984. Master degree received from City University in Mental Health Counseling in 2000, and she's a Walden University PhD student in education psychology. From 1986 to present, she continues to work in the mental health field as a guidance counselor with at risk youths, vocational rehabilitation counselor, adult case manager, child and family therapist, supervisor of chemical dependency unit, a case resource manager with developmental disabled clients, and in private practice. She has spent some time as an elected official as a school board director from 2003 to 2010.

Trauma: It happens, learn to understand it

I found this book to be short and sweet. It hits the nail on the head. This book is about how the author tell her personal story about abuse and trauma. She talks about how she recreate her life through education and spiritual truths, which is really where the book takes flight. The book also define abuse, domestic violence and P.T.S.D. symptoms, which is very important. This book describes research information on the different types of races of women and how they deal with trauma, etc. I can see how this book can help women, young adults and males deal with trauma-or at least understand it better. Lastly, this book can be used to explain trauma to others, which I find very important. I would recommend this book to other people to read based off the aforementioned comments.

Wow...Is how I feel about this book...It was like "hold the phone", I started reading and rereading and I couldn't put this book down. The information/resources the author shared is totally critical for our world today..This book is cutting edge..and "just wow...I couldn't believe what I was reading because I've known the author for over 10 years and never would of thought, believed. She's an example for us all and to know who she has become today will literally blow your mind and more. In our society today we need an eye witness to provide motivational passage to healing and to know that God does have an escape plan for our lives. Purchase this book and captivate a blessing for your mind, body and soul. Blessings...

You Won't Leave Like You Came...

The author's visit to my church prompted the purchase of this book. Her compelling story ministered to many in the congregation. Can you say POWERFUL?! The book does no justice to the in-person experience your church, workshop or women's group would receive. God has healed her and given her a testimony (also a plus, is the fact she has certified clinical training in the area of domestic violence, abuse and posttraumatic stress). She ministered to hurting men and women and will not leave your gathering untouched. Do your gathering a favor and book her for a workshop.
Now the book...I believe the book is simply a key (or catalyst, if you will) to open doors for real, live ministry. I believe there are many hurting people in our churches and small group settings who are suffering in silence and God wants them healed. This book, notwithstanding the grammatical errors, will give the reader some clues or indicators for those suffering with posttraumatic stress disorder. The book is an easy read but deals with a difficult topic. As we face huge amounts of our young people returning home from serving in the military and experiencing the horrors of war, our churches can no longer afford to wink, blink or nod on this pervasive problem.
We need to become equipped for service. That will include some training on the issue. The author and her book can provide it.
